Please email us directly for international orders. If we can ship to your location, we will determine the best service to use and the cost. We will label contents as “Geologic rock specimens for scientific study.”
If you have a special circumstance or questions about a specific specimen, please contact us via phone or email. Please note that many minerals are in the warehouse and may not be immediately available to answer questions immediately.
If you are not completely satisfied with the mineral specimen purchased, you must notify us within one week of receipt. We will be in touch to resolve the issue.
We are happy to accept the piece back for a full refund or exchange for equal value from our inventory.
If returning an item, the package must be postmarked within 2 weeks of the date of receipt, with a valid tracking number (and insurance if over $100 value).
No returns will be accepted beyond 2 weeks unless previously authorized in writing.
Package each specimen individually, preferably in the originally packaging and ToD box. Make sure there is sufficient padding in all directions (like a bird’s nest and then covered) until a minimum of 1 inch of padding is built up on all sides and that there is no movement of the specimen in the box.
Remember to include all labels and any other documentation included.
Place the boxed specimen in a larger shipping box with at least 1 inch of padding of crushed newspaper, Styrofoam peanuts, or bubble wrap between the specimens and the package walls on all sides. This ensures compliance with USPS and UPS regulations.
Do not reuse the box the minerals were shipped in if there is ANY evidence of crushing or damage.
Failure to follow any steps above will result in invalidating the shipping insurance, preventing any claims for damage. You, the shipper, assumes all responsibility for potential damage.
Upon receipt of the returned specimens, a credit will be made on your purchase. If the original purchase was made with a credit card, a credit will be processed to the same card.
It’s extremely rare, but occasionally specimens may break in shipment. If any items were damaged during shipment please email us immediately at support@treasures-of-darkness.com. We will file an insurance claim at the Post Office where the package originated.
To ensure thorough documentation of the claim, you will need to send pictures of the damaged packaging and specimen.
Per USPS: If you received something damaged, please hang onto the original packaging and the damaged item until your claim is settled. You may be asked to take them to your local Post Office™ for inspection later. Please do not reship the package.
